For brokers, PEOs and insurers
Your private California clients can give employees a written way to raise a workplace concern. The employer answers in the same place, and each step is dated.
What your client gets
- An intake page of its own. Employees reach it through a link the employer shares inside the company.
- Each concern as the employee wrote it. We do not give the employer the employee's name or contact details unless the law or a court order requires it. What the employee writes may identify them.
- On each concern the employer can acknowledge it, reply in writing, ask whether the employee will share their name, or, once mediation opens, invite mediation. Nothing on the platform requires a reply.
- A dated record of every step taken through the platform. Each side can download its copy.
- When mediation opens, if both sides want it, each ranks a short list of independent mediators and the platform picks from both rankings.
Each client has its own account, intake page and record, and registers and accepts the Terms itself. There is no broker, PEO or insurer account and no view across clients. How the record works
What your client may share with you
When intake opens, Section 7.4(n) of the Terms lets either side share platform communications with its insurer, insurance broker or claims administrator, and an employer that uses a PEO with that PEO, to give notice of a claim or of circumstances, to obtain or keep coverage, or to handle a claim.
The side that shares may share only what those purposes require. It must make sure the recipient is bound, by contract, law or professional duty, to keep what it receives confidential and to use it only for those purposes. It stays responsible under the Terms for any disclosure or use by the recipient that the Terms would not let it make itself. Receiving a concern does not make you a user of the platform or give you access to it.
If your client carries employment practices liability insurance, its policy may require it to report a concern, and may require the insurer's consent before it replies on the merits, mediates or settles.
What it is not
- Wiser Workplace is not a law firm and gives no legal advice to the employer, the employee or you.
- It does not replace an anonymous hotline or the employer's own complaint procedure.
- It is for private California employers. It does not serve employees under 18 or those who live outside California.
- Do not count on it to stop or pause any deadline. Deadlines to file with an agency or in court can keep running while an employee uses it.
- It promises no reply from any employer and no outcome.
- It makes no claim about claims, premiums, coverage or defenses, and we cannot say whether a record will matter in any case.
What it costs
Employees never pay. When intake opens, your client pays the subscription the pricing page lists for its headcount, after any trial the pricing page describes. No Wiser Workplace fee is charged per concern, and none depends on whether a concern is sent, whether a mediator is engaged, or how a matter ends. If there is a mediation, the employer pays the mediator's fee in full, and we take no share of it.
