Getting Started

What is Wiser Workplace?
Wiser Workplace is a California technology platform that provides a structured, confidential channel between employees and employers. An employee submits a workplace concern; the platform routes it to the employer the employee identifies; the employer agrees to a structured response window at subscription; specific timing terms are set at the time of subscription and disclosed to the employee; the parties exchange messages and documents through the platform while the case is open. Wiser Workplace is a technology platform, not a law firm. Mediator-guided resolution launches Q3 2026 with credentialed independent California mediators conducting the substantive mediation off-platform.
How does the resolution process work?
The process begins when an employee submits a workplace concern through the intake form. After a brief Wiser Workplace review to verify the identified employer and residence, the platform routes the concern to the employer and starts the response clock. The employer agrees to a structured response window at subscription; specific timing terms are set at the time of subscription and disclosed to the employee. The employee and employer then communicate directly through the platform. If they reach an agreement, they close the case as resolved. If they do not, the case closes unresolved, and the platform's exit note points the employee at the EEOC, the California Civil Rights Department, and the Labor Commissioner, and reminds the employee of the right to consult an attorney of their own choosing.
Is Wiser Workplace a law firm?
No. Wiser Workplace is a neutral technology platform and not a law firm. The platform routes an employee's concern to the employer, enforces the employer's response-window commitments, and gives both sides a private channel to communicate. At Q3 2026 launch, the parties can also engage an independent California mediator from the platform's curated directory through bilateral selection. Wiser Workplace does not investigate or adjudicate any concern, and Wiser Workplace itself does not act as the mediator. Either party is free to consult their own attorney at any time.
How much does it cost?
At-launch pricing for employers is scoped per headcount and finalized in a 15-minute call closer to Q3 2026. The ROI calculator shows what mediator-guided resolution can save an employer in defense costs versus litigation. The first fifty (50) California employers to subscribe at public launch (the "Founding Fifty") lock in launch pricing for as long as they remain continuous subscribers. Pre-launch interest registration is free.
How long does the process take?
Most cases are resolved within 30-60 days from initial intake to agreement. Simple disputes may resolve faster, while complex matters might take longer depending on the parties' availability and the complexity of issues. This is significantly faster than traditional litigation, which often takes months or years. We work diligently to move cases forward while ensuring adequate time for meaningful dialogue.
What types of disputes can Wiser handle?
Wiser Workplace accepts a wide range of workplace concerns including wage and hour issues, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, contract disputes, performance management disagreements, and workplace policy conflicts. Not every concern is a fit for this kind of private, structured channel — for example, immediate safety emergencies should go directly to authorities, and matters with pressing statutory deadlines should be discussed with a licensed attorney.
Is the process confidential?
Platform Communications are contractually confidential between you, Wiser Workplace, and the employer you identify, under Section 7 of our Terms of Service. Section 7.1 restricts each party from using Platform Communications in later proceedings, with narrow exceptions for permitted disclosures. At Q3 2026 launch, mediation is conducted by independent California mediators bilaterally selected by the parties; mediator-engaged communications are additionally protected under California's mediation confidentiality framework. We explain the confidentiality framework and its limits during intake.
What states does Wiser operate in?
Wiser Workplace currently operates in California, with plans to expand to additional states. Our focus on California allows us to understand the state's employment-law framework and build the right employer response-commitment program for the California market. If you're outside California, please contact us to express interest in our expansion timeline.

For Employees

How do I file a workplace concern?
Filing a concern is simple: fill out the intake form with details about your workplace concern, and submit documentation if you have it. After a brief Wiser Workplace review to verify the identified employer and California residence, the platform routes the concern to the employer and starts the response clock the employer agreed to at subscription.
Is my identity protected from my employer?
You maintain control over what identifying information is shared. At intake you decide whether the summary sent to the employer includes your name. Platform Communications are contractually confidential under Section 7 of our Terms of Service — neither you nor your employer may use them in a later proceeding, with narrow exceptions. If you have specific safety concerns, discuss them with our intake team before you submit.
What happens after I submit a concern?
After submission, our intake team verifies the identified employer and confirms California residence. You'll receive a confirmation email within 24 hours. If the submission is complete, the platform routes the concern to the employer and starts the structured response clock the employer agrees to at subscription. You and the employer then communicate through the platform's confidential channel until the case closes.
Can I still hire an attorney?
Yes. You may have your own counsel advise you at any point during the process. Attorneys are not required but are welcome.
What if we don't reach a resolution on the platform?
If you and your employer don't reach an agreement through the platform, you can close the case as "Unresolved" at any time. Platform Communications remain contractually confidential under Section 7 of our Terms of Service — neither side can use them against you in a later proceeding. You keep every legal right you had before submitting, and the exit note points you to the EEOC, the California Civil Rights Department, and the Labor Commissioner, and reminds you of your right to consult an attorney of your own choosing.
Do I need to pay anything?
Wiser Workplace is designed to be accessible to employees. Most employees pay nothing or a minimal fee to use our platform. The bulk of costs are covered by employers who subscribe to our resolution services. If fees apply to your specific situation, we'll be transparent about costs upfront during intake. Our goal is to ensure financial barriers don't prevent employees from seeking resolution.
Can I withdraw my concern?
Yes, you can withdraw your concern at any time without penalty. Simply notify our support team of your intent to withdraw, and we'll process your request promptly. Withdrawing does not affect your legal rights or options to pursue other remedies. If the employer has already been notified, we'll communicate your withdrawal professionally and maintain confidentiality.
How do I track my case status?
You can track your case status 24/7 through your personal dashboard on our platform. Your dashboard displays the current stage of your concern (New, Employer Notified, Under Employer Review, Resolved, Closed - No Action, or Withdrawn), response-clock deadlines, and any required documents. You'll also receive email updates at key milestones. If you have questions about your status, our support team is available via chat, email, or phone during business hours.
What documents should I prepare?
Gather any documentation relevant to your concern: emails, performance reviews, pay stubs, HR communications, text messages, witness statements, or incident reports. Don't worry about perfect organization. Our intake team will help you organize materials. For confidentiality reasons, sensitive documents should be submitted directly through our encrypted platform rather than email. During intake, we'll advise which documents are most important for your specific case.

For Employers

Why should my company use Wiser?
Wiser Workplace helps employers resolve workplace disputes quickly, confidentially, and at a fraction of typical litigation costs. Participating demonstrates a commitment to fair dispute resolution and can improve employee trust. Our platform provides data and insights into workplace patterns, helping you identify potential systemic issues early. Early dispute resolution may also reduce turnover, improve employee satisfaction, and lower litigation risk, though results vary by organization and situation.
How does Wiser reduce litigation risk?
Engaging with concerns early through the platform's private, structured channel can reduce the risk of escalation to formal complaints or litigation — both of which are costly and time-consuming. Any written agreement the parties reach through the platform is a contract between them, enforceable on its terms. Early engagement may also reduce the likelihood of negative publicity, regulatory complaints, and related claims. Our platform helps identify patterns in workplace concerns, which can inform proactive HR action. Not all concerns will resolve on the platform.
What does the employer dashboard show?
The employer dashboard provides real-time visibility into all active concerns, including case status, response-clock progress, and required actions. You'll see anonymized concern categories (e.g., wage issues, discrimination, harassment) and trend reports showing patterns over time. The dashboard also displays response and resolution outcomes, estimated cost savings vs. litigation, and employee feedback metrics. This data is useful for HR strategy, identifying training needs, and demonstrating due diligence to leadership and boards.
Can we use Wiser for internal HR processes?
Wiser Workplace is designed as an external, structured channel between employees and employers — intake, routing, response-clock tracking, and message exchange. Some companies use insights from Wiser data to improve internal HR processes, training, and conflict prevention. Contact our enterprise team to explore possibilities tailored to your organization's needs.
What compliance reports are available?
Wiser provides detailed compliance reports tracking dispute categories, resolution timelines, and aggregate statistics. All are designed to demonstrate your company's commitment to fair dispute resolution. Reports can be customized for regulatory audits, board presentations, or internal review. We track anonymized data around discrimination, retaliation, wage issues, and other categories to help you stay compliant and informed. Reports protect your company while respecting individual privacy and confidentiality.
How does pricing work for employers?
At-launch (Q3 2026), employers will pay Wiser Workplace through a flat-platform-fee model that complies with California Rules of Professional Conduct 5.4 (the platform fee is never a percentage of any mediator's fee). Subscription terms will scale with headcount and features. Founding Fifty interest registration is free during the pre-launch period. For pricing tailored to your company size, please contact us or use the ROI calculator to project savings.
Can we integrate with our HRIS system?
Yes, Wiser offers API integrations with major HRIS platforms including ADP, BambooHR, Workday, and others. Integration allows automatic case creation, employee data syncing, and streamlined reporting workflows. We also support single sign-on (SSO) for smooth access. For enterprise customers, our technical team can discuss custom integration requirements. Contact our integration specialists to discuss your system's compatibility and implementation timeline.
What is the ROI of using Wiser?
Based on published data from Hiscox, the average employer spends an estimated $75,000 or more to resolve a single employment claim pre-trial, and $125,000+ if it goes to trial. Resolving a concern earlier through Wiser's structured intake and contractually confidential employer-response channel is intended to cost a fraction of that. When factoring in management time, reputational protection, and faster resolution, the potential return on investment can be significant. At Q3 2026 launch, mediation through Wiser Workplace is performed by an independent California mediator engaged via the platform's bilateral selection workflow; the mediator's fees are separately disclosed on the mediator's profile and paid directly by the parties to the mediator. Actual costs and savings vary by case complexity, jurisdiction, and other factors.
How do I register my company?
Register through our Employer Portal with your company email, basic company information, and details about your dispute volume. During signup, you'll select your pricing plan and can request a guided onboarding call with our team. After registration, you'll receive access to the employer dashboard, training materials, and dedicated support. Our onboarding specialists will schedule implementation to ensure smooth integration with your systems and processes.

Billing & Subscriptions

What payment methods do you accept?
Wiser accepts all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), ACH bank transfers, and wire transfers. Subscription payments are processed automatically on your renewal date. Payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI Service Provider Level 1 certified payment processor. Wiser Workplace does not store credit card numbers on its own servers. You can update payment methods anytime in your account settings. For enterprise customers, we can discuss custom billing arrangements including invoicing terms.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel your subscription anytime through your account settings or by contacting our support team. If you cancel mid-month, your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for unused time. Upon cancellation, you lose access to new case submissions but can still access existing case information and dashboards until your subscription officially ends. We encourage feedback on why you're canceling; your input helps us improve.
Is there a free trial?
Wiser Workplace launches mediator-guided resolution in Q3 2026. Pre-launch (current state), employers can register Founding Fifty Interest at no cost and with no payment commitment. At launch, subscription terms will be scoped to your headcount in a 15-minute call. There is no current trial flow because the at-launch product is not yet live.
What is your refund policy?
Wiser offers a 30-day refund satisfaction policy if you're unsatisfied after your first month. Simply request a refund within 30 days of your first charge and we'll refund your subscription fee in full. Beyond 30 days, subscription fees are non-refundable per our terms. We're confident in our service quality, and this satisfaction policy lets you try Wiser with confidence.
How does auto-renewal work?
Subscription auto-renewal terms will be set at public launch in Q3 2026 with appropriate notice and email reminders. Pre-launch (current state), no payment is collected from any user, and Founding Fifty interest registration is free. At-launch subscribers will be able to change renewal date, update payment method, or cancel anytime in account settings, with confirmation emails after each renewal charge.
Can I change my plan?
Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your plan anytime through your account settings. Upgrades take effect immediately; the price difference is prorated based on your remaining billing period. Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing cycle. If you need a custom plan tailored to your company's specific needs, contact our sales team to discuss enterprise pricing and arrangements.

Privacy & Security

How is my data protected?
Wiser uses industry-standard encryption (AES-256) for data at rest and TLS 1.3 for data in transit. All servers are housed in secure, monitored data centers with redundant backups. We conduct regular security audits and penetration testing to identify vulnerabilities. Access to sensitive data is restricted to authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis. We also employ multi-factor authentication, encrypted backups, and strict access controls. Your data is your priority and ours. We're committed to the highest security standards.
What is your privacy policy?
Our full privacy policy is available at wiserworkplace.com/privacy-policy. It details how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information. We collect only data necessary for platform functionality. We never sell your personal information to third parties. We're transparent about data retention. Dispute records are retained according to legal requirements, typically up to 7 years. You can request a copy of your data or deletion of your account anytime. The policy is designed to comply with CCPA, CPRA, Washington MHMDA, Nevada online privacy law, and other applicable California privacy laws.
Do you sell personal information?
No, Wiser Workplace never sells personal information to third parties. Period. We may share anonymized, aggregated data with researchers or partners for product improvement, but this data cannot identify individuals. We may be required to disclose information to law enforcement or courts with valid legal process, but we push back on overbroad requests and notify users when possible. Your trust is foundational to our mission. Data monetization contradicts that trust.
How do I request my data?
Under California's CCPA and CPRA (and other applicable privacy laws), you have the right to request all personal information Wiser Workplace holds about you. Submit a data request by emailing privacy@wiserworkplace.com with your name and account details. We will respond within 45 days with a portable file containing your data. The request is free; multiple requests in a 12-month period may incur a reasonable fee per the statute. You also have the right to correct inaccurate data or request deletion, subject to legal retention requirements.
How is my submission protected?
Platform Communications are contractually confidential between you, Wiser Workplace, and the employer you identify, under Section 7 of our Terms of Service. Each party agrees not to reference or use Platform Communications in any later proceeding, except under limited, enumerated exceptions (Section 7.4) that include consulting your own attorney, responding to lawful legal process, and filing with or testifying before government agencies. Pre-launch, no mediation has commenced through the platform, so the statutory mediation-confidentiality framework in California's mediation confidentiality framework does not yet attach. At launch in Q3 2026, mediator-guided resolution by credentialed independent California mediators on the platform's directory will additionally invoke that framework.
Is the platform CCPA compliant?
Wiser Workplace is designed to honor California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) rights. These include the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete (subject to legal retention obligations), the right to correct, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right to limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell personal information. Our Privacy Policy explains these rights and how to exercise them. Questions about privacy practices can be directed to privacy@wiserworkplace.com.
How do I delete my account?
You can request account deletion through your account settings or by emailing support@wiserworkplace.com. Upon request, we begin the deletion process: your login credentials are disabled, personal information is anonymized, and account data is removed from active systems within 30 days. However, we may retain dispute records as required by law for 7 years (statute of limitations) but stripped of personal identifiers. After your account is deleted, you'll lose access to the platform. Deletion cannot be undone, so be certain before requesting it.
What security certifications do you have?
Wiser Workplace does not currently hold its own SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar security certifications. We rely on reputable third-party vendors for data infrastructure and payment processing, and those vendors maintain their own independent certifications. Our database vendor (Airtable) has completed a SOC 2 Type II audit for its platform. Our payment processor (Stripe) is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. We use technical and organizational safeguards including access controls, encryption in transit, and role-based permissions. As the platform matures we expect to pursue direct certifications and will update this answer when they are issued. For details on vendor practices, see our Privacy Policy.
